A Grade Match Report VS Pulteney OS

See here for details

It ended up being a mixed bag for the club on the weekend with two senior sides winning and the other two having a loss.

The A Grade were at Pulteney and Craig ` Richman,Wasim,Spirit` Ritchie led the team in Beeps` absence. He started off by losing the toss and we were asked to field. Domenic `Allstar` Croft and Drewsal Parsons opened up and bowled well , most of their early runs were lofted shots just landing out of arms length. Our fielding may have been the difference as we stopped pretty much everything, Crofty was sensational in the covers pulling off a direct hit run out yet again and Shaun Cummins playing his first game as A grade keeper did an excellent job only conceding 1 bye and was on the job all day. They had one batter making all the runs and we weren`t able to get him out, he gave Rohan `Sucre` Way a slice of the devil hitting him for 666 but he had the last laugh. Kyle took a blinder at mid off to remove one of their guys and we started to fight back. Kara bowled a tidy spell also but it was Kyle `Howdy Ho` Adcock who ripped through them. After removing their skipper for 145 the rest of their guys were under pressure. Kyle took 4/18, It was hot for me in the tree but I think all were bowled and the stump went flying on all those occasions, he bowled accurately but had the old ball shaping in and he just went through them, a crucial spell as it turned out. Pulteney finished on 291 which looked a big score but it could`ve been worse but Richman and his offsider Tristan `Trip` Glover kept the guys up during the tough times and the lads left the ground a bit optimistic.

After losing an early wicket we started to get going Mick `Slim,Neil Craig` Brister got out his famous cut shot and straight drives to keep the scoreboard ticking he made a handy 46. Roey and Crofty then had a partnership in which Dom went crazy, he blazed 71 of the 88 runs in about 5 minutes and his innings definitely dropped the heads of the Pulteney players. Roey had the best seat in the house watching from the other end. At tea we were a bit over halfway there, Matty ` Shaggy` Jackson and Roey took their time after tea as we gradually reeled in their score, Trip came out and in his usual fashion belted a few sixes and some well hit boundaries to get us close but was dismissed for 33 . Roey and his good mate Mark `Colossimo,Scott Pendelbury` Nash then got us over the line passing their score with six overs left and we were seven down. Soon after Roey brought up his 100 on what would`ve been his Dads` 60th birthday with a six,so it was a good way to close out the day, he was stumped soon after for 107 whilst Nashy drove them further into the ground with some very satisfying late runs as we amassed 334. We were also a batsman short as Kyle nursed a broken finger but was padded up and prepared to bat if required. It ended up being a great run chase by the boys

Richman got the lads together after the game and told them that the day proves anything is possible if you bat your overs and with some home games coming up we need to stick to our guns and keep the good start going.
